Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Brandon Petersen is confident that the club’s home fortunes will turn around as the Clever Boys build-up to Tuesday’s Absa Premiership showdown against Black Leopards.
Kick-off at Bidvest Stadium is scheduled for 7:30pm CAT.
The Clever Boys were held to a goalless draw by Chippa United at the same venue on Saturday evening. Gavin Hunt’s troops created several goal-scoring opportunities on the night, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Petersen, 25, is confident that if the club continue to play like they have been in recent weeks a home win in the league is not too far away.
“I wouldn’t say that we’ve been struggling at home, I think we’ve been playing well at home – the only thing is that we can’t seem to score. We’ve been doing everything right but the ball just doesn’t want to go into the back of the net,” said Petersen.
Lidoda Duvha set course for Braamfontein following defeat to Limpopo rivals Baroka FC this past weekend – a loss that resulted in the club falling to the foot of the standings.
“We all know that they [Leopards] are going to go all out on Tuesday in order to try and get out of last place on the log standings,” Petersen added. “We know it’s going to be a fight out there on Tuesday and I think if we stick to our guns and play our game we can come out on top.”
The Clever Boys head into the fixture in sixth place on the log standings, 13 points behind league leaders Kaizer Chiefs but having played two games less and Petersen believes Bidvest Wits can still catch the Amakhosi.
“We need to keep believing that it can happen. We also need to try and get maximum points from all our remaining 10 fixtures,” he concluded.
